Life Journey


Jokowi didn’t come from a wealthy family background. He was a son of a carpenter, Noto Mihardjo. As a child, he concerned with environment, due to his poorness. He even stayed around the Riverbank. He knows how to be poor from his real life experience.
His father sold wood by the roadside, often also carried the sawn timber. He frequently went to the traditional markets and traded. He saw with his own eyes how traders chased apparatus, expelled  without humanity. He concerned and was saddened by the reality why the city was not friendly to humans.
During his school time, he traded anything to pay his school fee. He has been independent since his childhood because he did not want to pester his father who was a carpenter. He collected coins and he saved his money in a pottery piggy bank. During rainy season he sometimes rented an umbrella. He also helped mothers carrying groceries as a porter. Since his childhood he knew how hard the people struggled for life, but he found another side of excitement in his observation.
He went to school on foot and he often saw the atmosphere of the city. At the age of 12, he studied wood sawing, His expertise sawing wood then brought him to understand the science of wood.
